While ICF does not offer training to become a coach, we do offer programs that provide coaching training and professional development for experienced coaches.
How do I become a member of ICF GLOBAL?
The International Coaching Federation is an international professional association for and by coaches. Worldwide there are over 130 chapters in about 70 countries, including ICF Netherlands.
When ICF was founded in 1995, the goal was to lend credibility to an emerging profession and give coaches a place to connect with each other. In the 25 years since, ICF has grown to become the world's largest organization of professionally trained coaches and the leading voice for the global coaching community.
In 2020, the International Coach Federation became the International Coaching Federation. This was not just a new name; it was a new way to serve coaches, clients, our communities and the world as we pursue our vision of coaching as an integral part of a thriving society.
As a relatively new field experiencing rapid growth, coaching presents unique challenges. The ICF is the world's largest non-profit coaching organization with over 41,000 members in 145 territories. We are the organization people turn to for professional development, excellence in standards, and in-depth knowledge of the coaching profession.
ICF Chapters are local communities of ICF members. The ICF Netherlands Chapter brings our global organization to life at the national and local level. We build, support and maintain the integrity and standards of the coaching profession in the Netherlands.
To become a member of a chapter, you must first become a member of ICF Global.
Membership conditions
- You can demonstrate that you have completed at least 60 hours of 'coach-specific training'. Find more information about 'coach-specific training' here.
- Or you have not yet completed 60 hours of 'coach-specific training', but at the time of enrolment are taking part in an ICF-accredited coach training course (an ACTP or an ACSTH programme (see also 'Coach training courses' on this website).
How do I become a member of ICF Netherlands?
When you register as a member of ICF Global, you are asked which chapter you are affiliated to. Sometimes coaches think - when they fill in 'Netherlands' - that they have also registered as a member of ICF Netherlands. This is not the case. To become a member of ICF Netherlands, please fill in the form below. There is no separate contribution for ICF Netherlands membership. One of the details we ask from you is the ICF Global registration number. You will receive this number after your registration with ICF Global.
